During the last month of pregnancy, as the body begins to prepare for childbirth, pregnant women can also feel some changes. These changes include a reduction in the baby’s movement and mild contractions, among other things. The mother-to-be feels heavier and can’t do a lot of things that she used to do.

Before childbirth, there are several things that you should pay attention to and follow regularly:

Blood pressure

High blood pressure is mostly due to bad nutritional habits as well as emotional stress. It could have a negative impact on childbirth. That’s why all pregnant women must take care and constantly monitor their blood pressure. As we mentioned earlier, taking care of yourself with food and rest will facilitate all other stages.

Gestational diabetes

Gestational diabetes could be due to poor nutrition, which affects your pancreas and causes insulin resistance, so be aware and switch to a healthy substitute. Avoid artificial sugar (found in many ready-made cakes, chocolates, junk food, etc.) and sugar-laden natural juices.

Fetal movement

Baby movement decreases in the ninth month because the fetus grows bigger and the uterus is no longer sufficient to allow him to move freely. This is where the fetus often begins to position itself to facilitate delivery.

False contractions

The irregularity and periodic disappearance of false contractions distinguish them from real ones. You can take a warm bath; if it continues, this means that this is the first sign of delivery. Therefore, monitor the duration and recurrence of your contractions, and when they become closer and more intense, consider seeking medical attention.

Fetal water

You must go to the hospital when abundant water comes out; in some cases, it comes out during childbirth.

Consult your doctor.

To feel more reassured, learn more about your situation and ask all the questions that come to mind.

During childbirth, staying at home as much as possible will reduce hospital tension and reduce early medical intervention. All you need to do is stay up-to-date with your latest developments, which are crucial.

  • You should go to the hospital if you feel frequent contractions that get closer, take two minutes or less, and are ongoing.
  • Do not worry if blood comes out during contractions; this is normal (but not too much), and it is mostly due to expansions that occur to facilitate delivery.
  • Foetal water comes out either gradually or abundantly (and this differs from one woman to another).

While having contractions, try to walk, breathe deeply, and don’t waste your energy screaming. Just think about how soon you will hold your child.

After childbirth, the mother’s body needs rest to heal faster. You need about 2–3 months to regain your body’s strength and the uterus to return to normal. You should consider the following:

  • Eat a variety of nutritious foods.
  • Drink plenty of water and herbal tea (which suits breastfeeding mothers).
  • Never carry heavy things so that your organs won’t be pushed downward (wait a year after birth). You can only carry a baby.
  • Rest; don’t stress yourself.
  • Sleep whenever it’s possible.
  • When you need comfort or assistance, ask for help from your relatives.
  • Gradually, you can move and walk.

A few months before giving birth, prepare your hospital bag with everything you might need, with the following items being the most important:

    • To make breastfeeding easier, I’ll give you two cotton pyjamas.

    • Woollen pulls in case you get cold, as hospital rooms are often cold.

    • Menstrual pads and your child’s diapers are also available.

    • Baby clothes consist of more than one piece and a swaddle to keep him warm and comfortable.

    • Something to moisturise such as coconut oil, toothpaste, and a brush

    • Chargers

    • Ensure you have a towel for both you and your child.

Every mother experiences this moment and suffers from pain, but God does not charge a soul more than it can bear, and all women can go through it. Rest assured, your body is ready for childbirth. Strive to navigate this experience with comfort and tranquility. And be sure that any difficulties you encounter will disappear when you hold your bundle of joy.
